Pottery Course: Wheel Throwing Beginners
6-Week Evening Course – Tuesdays
This six-session evening pottery course is designed for complete beginners who want to develop their wheel throwing skills in a welcoming and creative London studio. Over six consecutive weeks, you’ll be guided through the essential techniques of working on the wheel, centering, shaping, trimming, decorating, and glazing, to create a collection of your own functional and unique ceramic pieces.
Whether you’re learning the basics for the first time or expanding your skills after a beginner course, this class offers a supportive and inspiring place to grow.

Your own wheel and clay supply each session

2–3 professionally fired pieces included (ready for collection 3–4 weeks after course end)

Class Size:

What You’ll Learn
Beginners  will cover:

How to prepare and wedge clay
-
Centering and pulling clay to shape forms like cylinders and small bowls
-
Trimming and finishing techniques, including how to add a foot
-
Decorative methods using slips and underglazes
-
An introduction to glazing and how different glazes behave in the kiln
Course Structure

Sessions 1–4: Focus on technique, building skills and producing forms

Session 5: Select your favourite pieces to be fired

Session 6: Glazing day – learn how to finish your work for the kiln
Please note: Pieces must be finished by Session 5 to be fired in time for glazing. The final glazing session cannot be rescheduled, but if you’re unable to attend, we’ll glaze your work in your selected colours.
Teacher
Gaby Mlynarczyk Gaby has taught wheel and hand building classes in New York, Los Angeles and London and has just finished her MA in Ceramics and Glass at the Royal College of Art. She is a passionate educator with over nine years experience.
Studio Etiquette

Each class runs for 2.5 hours of making time, with the final 30 minutes reserved for cleanup

Please leave time to clean your wheel and tools before class ends.

Cancellations & Policies

All cancellations must be submitted in writing via email

Refunds or exchanges may be granted at our discretion for cancellations made at least 7 days before the course start date

No refunds or rescheduling will be offered for cancellations made within 48 hours – no exceptions

You may transfer your place to someone else by emailing us their name in advance

If you miss a class during the course, we unfortunately can’t offer make-up sessions
